Crafting Change: PCGI and FGEN Puyo Hydro Unite for Culture-Based Livelihood Growth
Project Caraga Group Inc. (PCGI) and FirstGen Puyo Hydro formally began discussions on potential collaboration during a meeting at the Project Caraga Headquarters on November 4, 2025. The conversation centered on supporting Indigenous Peoples across the region, with a particular emphasis on strengthening community livelihoods such as weaving. Both teams explored opportunities for value-adding, branding, and market access, while also exchanging success stories that highlighted the potential of culture-based, women-led enterprises.

Building on this dialogue, both visited the Maraiging Mamanwa Farmers Skilled Workers Association (MAMAFASWAS) in Brgy. Maraiging on November 6, 2025. The visit aimed to understand the community’s current initiatives and explore possible collaborations in product promotion, training, and livelihood development. MAMAFASWAS members showcased their intricately handcrafted bags—distinct expressions of Mamanwa artistry that reflect deep cultural identity and craftsmanship.
The engagement strengthened the shared commitment of PCGI and FGEN Puyo Hydro to uplift Indigenous weaving traditions and create sustainable income opportunities for local artisans. By learning directly from the community, both organizations gained valuable insights into how targeted support can elevate culture-driven livelihood programs and help build resilient, community-led enterprises.

On November 14, 2025, another coordination meeting was held at the HQ where the teams mapped out plans including livelihood enhancement, environmental and watershed conservation, practical capacity-building, support for tools and raw materials, and potential initiatives on scholarships and cultural development—marking a strong step toward a meaningful partnership in Caraga.
