Biodiversity Team Presents Year-End Monitoring Data to CADT 210 and 239, Strengthens Community-led Conservation
The Biodiversity Team held its Year-End Reporting and Sharing of Outcomes in CADT 210 and CADT 239, in Surigao del Sur bringing together community leaders and partners to review insights from the 4th quarter biodiversity monitoring and discuss next steps for conservation for 2026.

Discussions focused on survey efforts conducted, including the limits of daily survey hours due to travel time and standardized methods. To improve data collection, recommendations of increasing survey days and exploring additional, randomly placed transects in other mountain areas, while avoiding bias was in the talks.
Key action points included dedicating one patrol day for biodiversity-focused foot patrols, conducting capacity-building trainings, and strengthening biodiversity-related IEC activities for capacity building and awareness campaigns.

The activity strengthened community engagement, secured local acknowledgement of the biodiversity framework and data presented, and highlighted the long-term commitment required for effective monitoring. Moving forward, activities next year will begin with a ritual for guidance and an early planning session to guide implementation.
