Strengthening partnerships in forest governance through collaborative initiatives

The Caraga Carbon Development Inc. team, led by Ms. Rosilyn C. Sanchez, Head of Forestry, convened a meeting on September 10, 2025, with Mr. Melchor John M. Largo, Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Officer (MENRO) of Lanuza, Surigao del Sur. The discussion centered on clarifying the scope of Project Caraga’s coverage within the municipality and ensuring that coordination with the Local Government Unit (LGU) remains strong and transparent. By addressing these key points, both sides aimed to build a clear and shared understanding of how the Project’s activities will align with the municipality’s environmental priorities and existing policies.

The meeting also highlighted opportunities for collaboration on joint initiatives that can strengthen forest governance and community participation. Both CCDI and the LGU emphasized that transparent communication and well-defined roles are essential to advancing shared goals of conservation and resource management for the municipality of Lanuza. By affirming their commitment to partnership, they underscored that sustainable forest governance is not just about protecting ecosystems but also about safeguarding the well-being of the communities who depend on them.
