Project Caraga Rolls Out Deforestation Protocol
Led by COO Bonnie Sanchez, together with representatives from the GID and Forestry teams, the Project Caraga Deforestation Response Protocol officially rolled out in nine out of 10 partner Indigenous communities in the provinces of Surigao del Sur, Agusan del Norte, and Surigao del Norte.

This milestone marks a significant step forward in strengthening community-led forest protection systems. Through the rollout, Indigenous and local communities are now equipped with clearer protocols, tools, and coordinated processes to detect, report, and respond swiftly to deforestation incidents within their ancestral domains.

Because protecting the forest begins with empowering its guardians—those who know the land not just by its boundaries, but by the stories, roots, and rhythms that sustain it.
