Update #8: Project Caraga Strengthens Commitment to Climate Resilience through Project TRANSFORM Stakeholder Consultation
Surigao City, Philippines — In a collective push to strengthen resilience and foster multi-sectoral collaboration in the Caraga Region, Project Caraga actively participated in the recent Project TRANSFORM Stakeholder Consultationheld from July 15 to 17, 2025 in Surigao City. Representing the initiative was Owen Jaen, Chief Communications Officer of Caraga Carbon Development, Inc., who joined over 100 stakeholders from government, academe, civil society, and the private sector in shaping the region’s resilience roadmap.

Project TRANSFORM—which stands for Transdisciplinary Approach for Resilience and Sustainability through Multi-stakeholder Engagement—is a flagship program of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR)in partnership with various national agencies and local actors. The consultation served as a platform for dialogue, progress review, and joint planning focused on the pilot province of Surigao del Norte, particularly the municipalities of Burgos, Del Carmen, Malimono, and San Francisco.
Project Caraga’s presence at the event underscores its commitment to transdisciplinary collaboration as a key approach to addressing climate and environmental challenges in Caraga. Through its forest carbon, sustainable livelihoods, and community-based programs, the initiative is aligned with Project TRANSFORM’s mission to empower communities through inclusive, science-based, and sustainable solutions.
The consultation concluded with participants formalizing their pledges of support by signing a Commitment Wall, symbolizing a unified stand for a more resilient, inclusive, and climate-adaptive future in Caraga and beyond.
